     I thought I would start 2018 with you by highlighting a fantastic town just on the outskirts of Calgary, Cochrane. If you are looking to buy a home in one of our surrounding communities close to Calgary, Cochrane is definitely worth checking out. It also is just a great escape for a lovely afternoon trip. Cochrane has been one of the fastest growing communities in Canada for the past few years, but yet still maintains a friendly small town feeling. The population is currently over 25 thousand. I also have had the pleasure of working in this quaint but very resource filled community both as a Nurse and Realtor and believe it has so much to offer to anyone considering a location change

    It truly is the Best of Both Worlds being nestled between the Big City and the Majestic Mountains. It is conveniently a short 20 minute commute west from Calgary wich makes it ideal for city workers to be able to commute to work within a reasonable time frame. When you drive into Cochrane from Calgary, you can’t miss the beautiful mountain views, it brings an immediate calm feeling to ones soul. Cochrane has all the essential services of the big city, which allows you to get everything you need done without leaving its vicinity. It also has a modern convenient Health Center and Urgent Care Facility along with a New Family Sports Recreational Center. When looking for a home in Cochrane you can ask yourself, would I like a Mountain View with Stunning Evening Sunsets, or a home Nestled along the Endless Beautiful Trails of the River Valley. If you enjoy the beauty of an outdoor active life, then this is a place for you. Cochrane is known for many different types of outdoor pursuits and generally on a sunny day you will see many of its residents and those from surrounding areas out enjoying the fresh air, endless bike trails, and river valley hiking trails.  Some of the activities you will also see happening include paragliding, golfing, biking, and fishing along the Bow River. The town has a charming downton area, where you can wander endlessly, relax in its quaint coffee shops, dine in its unique restaurants and enjoy the popular local ice cream shop. Spray Lake SawMills Family Sports Centre opened in 2017 and has a state of the art aquatic center, curling facility, 3 NHL size ice surfaces, martial arts studio, indoor soccer turf, indoor track, gymnasium & Fitness Centre.

Home pricing in Cochrane is very favorable. Generally speaking, the homes in Cochrane are at a lower price point than that of a similar home in Calgary. Cochrane also has many new and developing communities within it offering all types of housing, from character townhomes, to brand new single family home developments with all the new modern touches. My suggestion here is, if you are looking for a new home or just a relaxing get away out of the city take a drive out to the wonderful town of Cochrane and see what it has to offer.
